La push 6-25-11 & 6-26-11

Chuck,  Terry, Ed and I fished out of la push on Saturday and Sunday June 25th and 26thThe water and weather was very nice both days and we had some great bottom fishing.
On Saturday we caught our limits of  sable fish and some nice lings and even  had time to catch a couple of hatchery kings at the end of the day.
On Sunday the bottom fishing was a little slower but still  good, we caught limits of lings and a mixed bag of black cod and rock fish. The salmon fishing was very slow at la push this weekend but there are a few around if you work at it, the salmon fishing should be geting  better very soon.

La Push lings and black cod june 18th and 19th

Chuck , Mike , Eric, and I fished out of La push Saturday and Sunday JUNE 18TH  and  19TH the weather and water conditions were very good.
Although salmon fishing was opened we chose to fish for bottom fish instead and it appears we made the right call. The fishing was very good! We caught our limits of big lings and limits of  huge black cod on Saturday . On Sunday we caught our limits of lings and another huge pile of of black cod and a few rock fish to top off our over flowing fish boxes!
The black cod fishing was smoking hot and we could not have hoped for a better average size. These things were huge.  Our biggest ones were over 20 pounds.
The lingcod fishing was a little slower but still very good with our biggest being 32 pounds.
The talk on the docks was that the salmon fishing was very tuff with only a few fish being brought back to the docks each day, but it should be geting better very soon!

Rufus Woods june 11 & 12 2011

Cory and I fished Rufus woods on Saturday and Sunday June  11th and 12th.
What a great weekend! The weather was great and the fishing was amazing.
Grand Coulee Dam was spilling a ton of water into Rufus woods so
The water  at Rufus was very high and the current was much faster than normal but  it was some of the best trout fishing that I have ever seen!
It was non-stop action! Fish after fish after fish  and the average size was huge. The fishing was so good that if I missed a fish more times than not I would get another  bite before I would get the gear  back to the  boat to recast. Most of the fish were 4 to 8 pounds with a few smaller ones and and the occasional 10+ pounder being caught. It was common to go several casts in a row hooking a fish on each cast. it was so good that even a bear stopped by to check out the action.  We had our best results on a combination of spinners, plugs, and jigs but there were many different techniques catching fish

A perfect day on the water

La Push May 29-30, 2011

Matt. Terry, Jeff and and I fished La push Sunday and Monday MAY 29TH AND 30TH for lingcod and rockfish .

The water was a bit on the bumpy side on Sunday but absolutely flat on Monday. We were able to catch our limits lings and several rock fish each day with a few big ones mixes in but the overall fishing was a bit on the slow side and the fish seemed a little picker than normal we had our best results on live bait and pipe jigs.

Neah Bay - May 19 to 22, 2011

Mike, Steve, Brad and I Fished Neah Bay Thursday- Sunday MAY 19-MAY 22

The weather and water conditions were great this week. The water was very calm this week with the exception of Saturday night witch  kick up a bit

Fishing was good we limited each day and and were able to find a few nice ones, but the fishing seemed a little slower than normal and there seemed to be a  lack of the huge fish  I am use to seeing , but still plenty of  good fish to go around.

Neah Bay 5-12, 5-13-2011

Dave ,Chuck, Jason and I fished  Neah bay Thursday May 12  through Sunday may 15th

The weather was horrible on Thursday we picked our way  out and the further we got out the worse the weather got. 7 foot wind waves and howling winds were at our fishing  hole to greet us when we arrived. Luckily although the weather was carp the fishing was good it did not take us long to catch our limits of halibut and nice lings before settling in for the slow ride back in.

Once back near shore things were much nicer so we stopped and picked up our limits of rock fish to finish off the day

With Friday came much better weather conditions but when we arrived on our spot we found much slower fishing we fished hard all morning  with only mediocre results, But by late afternoon the bite really came on and we were able to end the day with limits of rock fish and nice lings our biggest  lings were 28 and 25 pounds. Our prospects for Saturday were looking great. After the  fast fishing we had Friday night  we figure it would be very easy to catch our fish Saturday so were started the morning in the straits looking for some big boys but after a couple hours with only one strike and no fish in the box we headed off shore expecting it to be red hot and it was “just before we got there” but buy the time we showed up it was dead. Tons of boats and no one hooking up. Realizing that it was not going to be the slam dunk that we thought  it would ,we fished hard and were able to grind out our limits of lings and halibut and  were even able to find a couple of the larger models.

On Sunday morning the water was flat calm so we headed off shore for the fourth day in a row and were greeted with quick limits on medium sized lings.

It was a good weekend of fishing and it is always fun to see so many people I know up at Neah bay.

Westport 5-8-2011

Wow!!!!!!!

Scott , Tom, Brad, and I fished Westport on Sunday  May, 8 . The fishing was great!

The lingcod fishing was incredible! We limited on giant lings and nice sized halibut.  Our lings weighed 34, 34, 31, 26, 25, 25, 24 and 22 pounds an awesome  limit of lings!  We were also able to scrap up a nice batch of halibut 45,34,32 and 25 pounds.  It was a great day on the water. Most of the day was nice and flat but the wind kicked up late in the day and made for a slow but exciting ride in.

La Push 5-7-2011

We had a 3 man crew at La push on  Saturday may 7th the water was a little churned up, but not too bad.

We were able to catch our limits of lingcod and rock fish but the overall fishing was on the slow side I felt very lucky to get the fish we did.

Westport 5-1-2011

I fished Westport with Scott, Dave, and Cory  on Sunday may 1

We were able to catch our limits of halibut, lings and also caught a few rock fish on our way in.  Our lings were very nice sized but our halibut were smaller then I was hoping for.  It seems the average size of the halibut are much smaller than in past years

La PUsh 4-23, 4-24-2011

I fished La Push with chuck, Aaron and David on  April  23 and 24

The overall fishing was good but not great. We were able to jig up  easy limits of medium sized lings and rockfish both days.
But were not able to find the giants we were looking for. We did however release a nice king that was caught on a shrimp fly while fishing for bottom fish.  Aaron with a nice pair of lings.

La Push 4-16, 4-17-2011

Scott , Bob, Dave and I fished La push Saturday and Sunday  April 16 and 17th

It was  windy and a little bumpy  with some very low tides this weekend but fishing conditions were not  terrible

We were able to jig up our limits of lingcod and rock fish both days and even caught a very large skate and a octopus to top the weekend off.

La Push 4-9-2011, Port Angeles 4-10-2011

Mike, Eric , Tom and I fished   La push on Saturday 4-9-11  and the Canadian side out of Pot Angles on Sunday 4-10-11.

We were able to take advantage of a small weather window on Saturday that gave us light wind and very calm seas before the storm rolled in Saturday night. We  caught easy limits of nice sized lings with a few big ones mixed in.  Due to  40 knot winds  Sunday  we packed up and headed to port angles.  After  a quick run across the border  we surprisingly  found nice calm condition and a couple nice halibut.
