Westport kings & silvers!

We  had a four man crew at Westport Sunday july 27
the over all weather conditions were very poor. Windy and very choppy most of the day but the fishing was great! We had very fast action on both kings and silver all day long. we had lots of doubles and several triples.  we had our best action in 420 feet of water running 125 to 250 on the riggers. Spoons, hoochies, and bait were all working very well!

Westport salmon and bottom fish

We had a five man crew at westport  Saturday and Sunday july 19 and july 20
The overall weather and water conditions were very good but we did have some fog on Saturday.
It took us a while to find the fish on Saturday, but once we did we had sold fishing for mid-sized kings in 245 feet of water  with our flasher and hoochies at 200 feet on the riggers
Once we had our kings we headed way up north for our silvers. The silver action was very good on Saturday we were able to catch our silvers very quickly and had time left over to catch limits of large black rockfish and a nice batch of mid-grade lings.

On Sunday we went back out to 245 feet and were able to pick up quick limits of mid-sized kings again. After that we head back up north for our silvers but what had been very good fishing the day before was super slow. We were marking fish everywhere but we could not  get them to bite . After working the area for a while with only a few silvers to show for it we made a quick run and picked up 50 bass and then made a run down to the casino to pick up our final two silvers.
My overall feel for the weekend  was the sea bass fishing was very good.  The salmon fishing was a bit on the slow side but they were there if you were willing to search around a bit.

Neah Bay Kings 7-13-14

Chuck G, Corey B, Trevor Z, and myself fished  out of Neah bay this weekend.
The overall weather conditions were good. Small swell, long period, and not much wind, but fog was an issue all weekend. The  trolling conditions were very tough this weekend especially at Swiftsure. The wind, current, and swells were all moving different directions which made tolling in a straight line very difficult. It seemed like the large moon and strong tides  were really effecting the fish also. We had smoking hot fishing for  nice kings for a couple hours and then nothing for the next several hours. It was some of the fasted king fishing I have seen fallowed by some of the slowest fishing I have seen! There was a large batch of big kings outside of shark fin but the fishing in that area was very inconsistent, our best depth on the riggers was 360 feet in that area.
The king  fishing on swiftsure was much more consistent with most of the better anglers picking up easy limits but the average size was much smaller than the fish in other areas. We had our best results at swiftsure running 150 to 220 on the riggers with flasher and hoochies.
we also found some time to get a bunch of rockfish and a few lings.

Westport salmon

We had a four man crew at Westport this weekend,  Don C, Phelan M, Justin L, and myself.
The overall weather and water conditions were good while fishing, but the bar was closed at times due to a large swell and a heavy ebb.
On  Saturday the overall fishing was very good we had hot action on midsized kings with some bigger ones mixed in. We had many doubles and even a few triples on Saturday.  our best king action came in 300 feet of water and down 245 feet on the riggers. Flashers and hoochies were  working best for us . Although the King fishing was hot  out at  300 feet  we had to run in to 160 feet  to find our silvers.  The Silver fishing was also very good. we had good action trolling herring  with helmets on 5oz red leads. The clipped rate was very good for us on the Coho with about 80% of our fish clipped. We even found some time at the end of the day to catch some lings and bass.
On Sunday we started on the Coho in 160 feet and caught quick limits before heading  out to 300 feet for our kings.  The king action started off very good but we were being a little picky on what we were keeping due to the great fishing the day before and we paid for it, the bite died at 10 am. We ending up working hard to scratching out what should have been an easy limit of kings.

The overall feel for this weekend was that there were lots of salmon out there and fishing should continue to be good for the next several weeks.
