Ilwaco tuna

We had a five man crew at ilwaco Saturday and Sunday august 23 & 24th
The overall weather and water conditions were very good this weekend, light winds and almost no Swell. We had fast action on nice sized albacore  Saturday on Sunday. live bait accounted for most of our fish this weekend but x raps were by far our top producer on the troll. we also caught a few on jigs and swim-baits.
I expect the tuna fishing to remain good for the next several weeks.
The salmon fishing was very good on the north beach for those fishing for them. Lots of silver with a few nice kings mixed in.

5 Hour Live Bait stop at Westport!

The weather was fair this weekend we had a small swell but wind and fog were  issues at times.
The off shore wind started blowing late in the day Saturday and  blow all day on Sunday.
Our overall fishing was very good this weekend.
The best bite times were from daylight till10 am and from 4 pm till dark. The middle of the day was very slow for most.
The troll bite was very slow  this weekend, but cedar plugs fished way back continued to work for us when nothing else was.( x raps and clones were very slow this weekend)
The live bait bite was great if you could get them started, but it took a bit of work to get them going.
after ending the day with a great bait stop on Saturday we were heading back to the same area when we spotted a few jumpers. We slid into them with live bait and it was game on!
We spent the next five hours on a bait stop the fishing was so good that 2 1/2 hours in to the stop a commercial jack pole boat moved into our stop and started pulling fish, it was the first time I have ever seen a commercial boat move in on a sport boats stop. I did not know how that was going to turn out, but it was cool to see and it did not seem to affect our stop, the jack pull boat moved on  after a while and we just kept on catching. We got 69 fish on that one stop and ended the day with 74 tuna!

Westports tuna

We had a five man crew at Westport Saturday and Sunday Aug 9 & 10 the overall fishing was good but not great.
The  weather conditions were poor this weekend fogy in the mornings, windy and sloppy in the afternoons and rough on the bar at times.
We had to go a bit farther out this weekend to find the temp and water color we were looking for. The temp and color seems to be moving to the south west.
Not many birds out there right now and we did not see any jumpers this weekend but there were plenty of tuna around.
The tuna were biting well on both the troll and live bait, but the wind was effecting our bait stops a lot! We had our best troll results with x raps, cedar plugs, albacore allstar, and swim baits in purple and black.I exspect the tuna fishing to remain good for the next several weeks.

We did not salmon fish this weekend, the salmon reports were mixed some found limits of good kings and silvers on the beach and others scratched for a fish or two both on the beach and off shore.

Westport tuna and kings!

We had a 5 man crew at Westport this weekend. The overall weather was good, the wind did come up Sunday afternoon, and we did have fog at times.

The overall fishing was good. There seemed to be good numbers of tuna around. We saw  scattered schools of tuna from 124.37 to 125.10 the bigger fish seemed to be in the green water on the inside while the quantities seemed to get better the farther we went out. We even caught a few tuna and Coho on the same bait stop!

The salmon fishing seemed very good! We did not put much effort into salmon fishing this weekend but we had great results  on both kings and silver while fishing in 380 feet,  200 feet down on the riggers while trolling flashers and spoons.
