Memorial day weekend at Neah Bay 2012

We fished a four man crew at Neah bay on memorial day weekend

It was very quit up there this weekend we only saw a  hand full of boats fishing each day

The overall weather conditions were good with Monday being an almost perfect day.

We had fast action on lingcod and rock fish all three days  and were able to find some very nice fish mixed in.

 It was a great way to end  our last  full weekend of deep water lings in area 3 and 4 but I am sad to see it closing.

 



Westport Halibut and Lingcod May 20, 2012

We had a four man crew at Westport on Sunday.

The day started out nice and calm but the  wind picked up at about 9am and it ended up getting quite rough by the end of the day.

The overall fishing was very good we had fast action and were able to easily limit on both halibut and lingcod

It was a great way to end the 2012 Westport halibut season

Neah Bay Halibut & lingcod May 17-19

We had a great time up at Neah bay this weekend

Our crew was Mike L, Eric C,  Steve E, and myself.

The weather varied a lot this week!

On Thursday the weather on the outside was very nasty but by  Saturday it was some or the flattest water I had ever seen

The overall fishing was very good this week we were able to catch limits of very nice halibut and were also able to catch nice batches of lings and rock fish

Bait was working best for the halibut and jigs were working well for the lingcod and rock fish.

It was great to see so many nice  friendly people up at  Neah bay again this weekend!

I was joined  this week by my dad Chuck G, Dave B, Steve B, and Jason A

The  weather this week was good but  it  did get quite rough  on Sunday.

The overall   fishing was good this week  we were able to catch nice batches of halibut, lingcod, and rock fish  but we saw a  bit of everything this trip.

At times we had smoking hot fishing and at others it was dead slow but most of our fish were caught at a medium pace.

We fished hard  all week and were able to find some  very nice fish, I was very happy with the average size of our halibut

we had great results on  both  jigs and bait  but bait seemed to be best when the bite got slow.
