Neah bay salmon and bottom fish

I fished the Canadian side out of Neah  bay july 6 and 7th with my dad Chuck G, and friends Jason A, and Darryl B.
Although the water was very rough on Saturday morning the overall fishing was very good. we had fast action on a combination of kings, silvers and pinks. Most of our fish were caught near the surface but we also caught a bunch around 150 feet on the riggers. Our salmon were caught on herring, hoochies and buck tails
The bottom fishing was also very good we were able to catch nice batches of lings and halibut right in the same area we were getting our salmon.

Easy limits of ilwaco salmon

Ed T, Jason A, Terry Q, and i fished ilwaco june 23, 24 the over all salmon fishing was very good we caught easy limits of mid sized kings and silvers both days. We had lots of doubles some triples and even a quad. we had our best luck in 50 feet of water a few miles north of the river. Red lead and cut plug herring were working best for us.

Ilwaco salmon

I fished ilwaco with Mike L, Eric C , and Rob S on june 15, and 16th the over all salmon fish was a bit on the slow side but there was a very good king  bite saturday night. We fished hard and were able to get a nice batch of fish but we had to work for most of the fish we caught.
Our best fishing was just north of the river in 30 to 50 feet of water trolling red lead and cut plug herring

Westport halibut

We had a four man crew for the final day of halibut fishing at Westport on Sunday
The weather sucked! Windy and rough,  most boats turned around and the few boats that did make it out earned every fish they caught.
We really took a beating on the run out but we stuck  with it and we were rewarded with very good halibut  fishing. The weather was too rough to go for our lings or bass but we did end up with four nice halibut.

Neah Bay Halibut and bottom fish

Mike  L, Eric C, Mike M  and I fished Neah bay last week. The overall  bottom fishing was very good we were able to catch some very nice halibut. The salmon fishing still seemed very slow but there were some very nice hatchery kings taken by a few that put the time and effort in . The overall weather was  good most of the week. The wind did kick up a bit at times but the swells remained small.
We had our best results using a combination of jigs and bait for the halibut while jigs and grubs were working best for the lingcod and rock fish.
It would be nice to get a few more days of deep water fishing in at Neah bay  before the main salmon season opens but we will have to wait and see if they reopen it.

Westport halibut & lings

We had a 3 man crew at Westport on Sunday the fishing was very good it did not take us long to catch our limits of halibut and lingcod. The day started off with good weather but the wind came up in the afternoon which made for a long bumpy ride back in.

Neah bay halibut & lingcod

We had a four man crew up at neah bay last week, Chuck G, Andy M, Peate K, and myself.
The overall bottom fishing was good. We had a mix of both slow and hot fishing but over all I was very happy with our results.
The salmon fishing was very slow so we did not put much effert in to it, but there were a few nice hatchery kings caught by A few that put their time in.
