Westport Tuna!

We are  full steam ahead on tuna from now till October. That last batch of rain that hit really slowed the off shore  king fishing at Westport and la push. There are still reports of some very nice kings being caught but not in the quantities we had been seeing. There are a few more silvers starting to show up but they are still not here like they should be. The good news is the tuna fishing has been very good and there has been quite a few big ones being caught. The highlight of this weekend was hooking a sunfish on live bait!  Those things can really fight when they want to.  It jumped way out of the water several times and put on a great show.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Westport kings, Bottomfish & Tuna!

The king  fishing was hot at westport this week! lots of  mid teens to mid 20’s kings  around with a few to the mid 30’s

The silver fishing is still slow at westport but  ilwaco has been hot for silvers.

casting for bass  was very good this week, lots of willing biters  

Both westport and ilwaco have been good for tuna but weather and fog have been an issue for some.

I expect the tuna fishing to be good for the next few months and the biggest kings of the year should be passing by westport this week.

 

 

Deep water ocean kings

Both Westport and La Push are fishing very well for kings.
we fished la push this weekend and did not have any trouble finding limits of nice kings.
we had our best luck on hoochies and bucktails and also caught a few on spoons.
the near shore bass fishing was also very good.  while the king fishing has been good the silver fishing has been very slow. Not many silvers at Westport or la push   ( but it sounds like there are lots of silvers at ilwaco.) The king fishing should remain good for a couple more weeks.
The tuna fishing remains very good at both Westport and ilwaco. I will be switching over to tuna this week. I have one spot open for tuna this Saturday Aug 8th
