Westport salmon and bottom fish

The overall fishing this week was good but not great

It has been a bit windy this week and it looks like the wind might stick around for a while

There has been good morning and evening salmon bites. The mid-day lull has been a great time to go catch a few bottom fish.

Our best salmon results have been on flasher and hoochies  in 250 to 280 feet of water, our hot rigger depths have been  220 and 160.

  

 

 

 

 

 



Westport kings and bottom fish

The overall water and weather conditions were very good at westport this weekend.

There has been a good morning and night  king bite.

Our best luck is coming in 200 to 250 feet of water 150 feet on the riggers. Hoochies and bucktails are both working well.
The bottom fishing has also been good with plenty of blacks, yellow tail and lings around. Jigs and flies have been working well for the bottom fish.

we also had another bird stop by and hang out this weekend.

We had a good  weekend of fishing at westport

The overall weather was good but it did get very rough mid day on saturday

The overall salmon fishing was good but not great we had to work a bit to get limits   hoochies and bucktails are working well

Our best fishing was in 200 to 250 feet of water, hot rigger depths were 85, 150, 220

Most of the fish are in the teens but there are a few fish in the  upper 20’s and 30’s around.

The bottom fishing has very  good.  Lots of blacks and yellow tail and a good number of lings also.

The high light of this week was a bird  that hitched a ride back to the dock with us.  He road with us for more then 6 hours!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Westport lingcod and bottom fish

we fished lingcod and rock fish at Westport this weekend.
the over all weather was good but it did get very windy in the afternoons.
and the fog was an issue at times. The over all fishing was a bit on the slow side most of the weekend but, once they started to bite it was one after another. It is time to change my focus to salmon and tuna but there are still plenty of lings and bottom fish out there.

 



Neah bay halibut, lingcod, rockfish

we had some great fishing at Neah bay this week. The over all weather was very good. we had fast action on halibut lingcod and sea bass. it took us a while to find the size we  wanted but it was well worth the effort.  both jigs and bait were working well this week.it was a great way to end our 2016 halibut season! Now it's time to get the salmon and tuna gear ready.

We had a great weekend of fishing at neah bay this weekend

The overall weather and water conditions were very good ( better then I had expected)

On Saturday we fished deep water lings and halibut the overall fishing was very good we caught a nice solid grade of halibut and plenty of big lings

 Sunday we fished near shore lings and bottom fish. On both days it took us a while to find the right spots but once we did we had very fast action on nice fish.
