Ben , Neil, Bill and I fished Ilwaco Saturday 6-30-12 and Sunday 7-1-12
When we pulled into the parking lot Saturday morning the wind was howling and the rain was coming down but by the time we headed out both the wind and rain had died off.
We ended up having great weather both days. Calm seas and very little rain.
On Saturday we spent the first half of our day fishing halibut the overall fishing was slow but we stuck with it and were able to grind out limits of good sized halibut.
The second half of the day was spent chasing salmon. The salmon fishing was a bit on the slow side but we were able to finish the day with our four kings and three hatchery silvers.
Sunday morning we were back after the salmon. There was a good morning bite but it died around 10 am so we headed for sea bass . we were able to catch quick limits of very large sea bass.
These were some of the biggest black rock fish I had ever seen and we managed to get a few lings and Cabazon in the process.
The word on the dock was that a few guys had been running for tuna but were only finding a few for their efforts. It should not be long till we start hearing some larger numbers of tuna being caught.
