On Saturday we fished the Humptulips. The river
conditions were great and the fishing
should have been excellent, but it wasn’t. It felt like it was between runs.
The river had just dropped back into shape Friday night and
was in perfect condition. It started at 1,700cfs in the morning and dropped to
1,300cfs by the end of the day. The river was a nice green color with about 3
feet of visibility. There did not seem to be very many silvers in the river and there were even less kings, but
the few that were being caught were bright. There were a fair number of chum in
the river to keep things interesting but the overall fishing was very
poor. We had our best results on bobbers
and eggs, bobbers and jigs and plugs.
On Sunday we fished the Satsop. The river was in great shape
. we had 5 to 8 feet of vis depending on the areas and the water was on a
steady drop (1,500 -1,300cfs). The river was full of chum! There were lots of
chum in the whole river, a fair number of bright silvers and a
few kings. There were so many chum in the river that it made catching the
silvers and kings a bit more difficult then usual, but they were there for
those were willing to work at it. We had our best results on eggs and bobber,
River bend twitching jigs, and jig and bobber.
