Ilwaco Salmon

We had a four man crew at Ilwaco this weekend Jay R., Mike R., Jeff N, and myself.
The overall weather and water conditions were good but the wind and chop did pick up in the afternoons. There was lots of life near shore this weekend, tons of bait(anchovies), thousands of birds, wales, and porpoises.
The overall salmon fishing was ok to Good . The morning and evening  bites were good near the north beach while the midday seemed very slow.
We had our best action on  herring and divers but also heard of others doing well on anchovies.

Neah bay salmon and bottom fish

We had a four man crew at Neah bay this weekend. The overall weather conditions were on the poor side.  Strong tides contributed to the ever changing  ocean conditions, one minute the ocean was nice and calm and the next it was down-rite nasty. We had a mix of hot and slow fishing this weekend but finished with limits of both salmon and rockfish each day. when the bite was on it was fast Coho action with a few kings mixed in when things slowed down we really had to scratch for them. The best bites seemed to be early  morning and late afternoon. Most of our chinook were a bit on the small side but we kept after it and were able to come up with a few good ones. We had good results this weekend running both hoochies and cut plug herring

Great fishing at Neah Bay!

The fish just keep getting bigger!
The overall weather conditions were  great this weekend, almost no swell and  with the exception of Friday morning  no wind or wind waves the rest of the weekend.
Our overall results were super good! We worked hard for our fish this weekend but when the bite went on, man did it go on! It was like a light switch for us.  One second we were grinding through some slow fishing the next second we could not real them in fast enough.
Both  jigs and bait were working well for us this week but most of our bigger halibut came on bait.

The Big fish were biting at Neah bay!

Mike L , Eric C, Dave B and I had a great weekend at Neah bay. It’s always fun to see everyone up there. The weather and overall conditions were excellent, sunny warm and flat seas. We had a mix of very slow to  smoking hot fishing but our end results were  extremely good!
We ended up with limits of  very nice halibut and  lings with some jumbos mixed in.  Both jigs and bait  were working well for the halibut and lings. Swim baits and grubs were working best for the bass.
