We had a five man crew at Westport this weekend
The overall weather and water condition were very good.On Saturday things started off very slow, no fish for the first two hours but as the day went on things really picked up
The mid-day bite was very good we were able to land 46 tuna on a combination of troll gear and bait before the bite died again in the evening.
Sunday we had two first time tuna anglers on the boat and
they picked the right day to start!
The fishing was smoking hot and stayed that way all day, we
hit a bird patch on the way out and put
35 fish on the boat on our very first stop! We drifting over 2 miles on that
stop and spent the rest of the day trying to troll back to our start point. The
fishing was so good that we did not make it back to our start point till it was
time for us to head in to beat the ebb. We
left a wide open bite at 4pm to end our
day with 75 fish in the box( I will probably be having night mares about that for the rest of my life!)
The fish were biting
both the live bait and the troll very, very well, the troll bite was so good
that at one point we hooked up all five
of our troll rods at the same time
Live bait, x raps and cedar plugs were all working very well
this weekend.
