Westport near shore Halibut, Lings, & Bass

With the early closing of the deep water halibut season at ilwaco we took a detour to Westport for near shore lingcod and rockfish

The overall weather this weekend was very good,  it was a bit foggy Saturday morning and the wind did come up late in the afternoon on Sunday.  Our fishing results were very good this weekend. On Saturday  we caught our limits of lingcod (one really big one) lots of bass and three nice halibut. On Sunday the fishing was a bit slower but still very good. We had nice batches and lings and bass and  4  good sized halibut. The bass were not biting very well for use this weekend we were marking tons of them but really had to work at it to get them to bite. The lingcod seemed to be coming in batches, at times it was very good and other times It was very slow. The  nice sized halibut this weekend was a huge bonus and more than made up for ilwaco being closed.

We did not salmon fish this weekend but the reports at Westport were very poor.  Hardly any salmon were caught. I would expect the bottom fishing to continue to be good and the salmon fishing should start improving soon.  The salmon reports from both Neah bay and ilwaco were much better then Westport this week.

I have some open spots in the next few weeks june 12 (2 spots), june 14th (one spot), june 20th (one spot), june 21 (one spot)
