westport salmom & bottom fish

The weather on Sunday at Westport could not have been any better! It was flat calm  and sunny most of the day.

The overall fishing was very good but we saw everything from dead slow to smoking hot fishing over the course of the day The salmon fishing was very good near the south bowl in 170 feet of water. Our best depth on the riggers was 45 feet for both kings and Coho and the whales were putting on one hell of a show, sometimes I bit closer then I would have liked! The salmon were biting well on herring and hoochies but I am sure they would have bit on many other items also. The bottom fishing started off very slow, it took us a while to find them  but when we found them it was red hot! We ended the day with limits of salmon, rock fish and  a  very nice batch of near shore  lings.  The lings were biting best on purple label herring.
